I'm having trouble digesting this. We're still here' , after all that is amazing, it's hard to get real angry about this. They are great examples. ABC Helicopter refueling right when the tear gas breaks out. This just proves my point they will say anything. That's not suspect. I don't think they think people are that stupid, these kind of things are protocol. Back to video, thanks for posting

Just checked out O marines social sites people are having to call for them, there is something wrong here. It's time for our government and our press to stand up for our people, because by not doing so they clearly indicate they have forgot, It is our government, our free press. Which by itself stands as a most reasonable reason to march by any standards, and our people should not be tear gassed for it. I hope not any of them give in to the temptation of anger. Above all else it must stay peaceful on the protesters side, or they just have an excuse to say why these things are happening, and to use more force, then they already have.

Police begin making arrests in Atlanta:

its gonna be a long night...
  • gavemehope October 2011 +1 -1
We need to remind our police that they have the right to refuse these orders, if nobody is doing anything wrong. It happened in Albany. The will not loose their jobs from these actions if they all say no. They will more likely loose them from the people and politicians who tell them one thing, but have been slashing pensions, and jobs of police every where. The ones they are standing for.

Maybe bring to attention who are our tax dollars paying to police real crime while this is going on? See if you can obtain information on real crime to point out.

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE, but brave and courageous. Even though they strengthen our cause by doing so to those whose choose to sacrifice to inspire. We demand better than this from this country. They shame all of us to the whole world with this use of this force. This is America. No reason for this, none.

Have these people lost their fucking minds? Or maybe they are trying to lure everyone into violence. I believe it is both. We must stay peaceful. This is unbelievable a vet, and from the look of him I assume of a recent tour, or most likely many, has to come home to this. I'm at a loss of words, any good ones anyway. SICK.
We must not be drawn in!
So I draw from wisdom calling out from the past
"Nonviolence is the answer to the crucial political and moral questions of our time:the need for man to overcome oppression and violence without resorting to oppression and violence. Man must evolve for all human conflict a method which rejects revenge,
aggression and retaliation. The foundation of such a method is love."

    @MundusVultDecipi:
The Baltimore mayor and heads of fire and policemen's unions said they will do everything to avoid any arrests. Thus camping indefintely overnight appears to be ok. Sounds fine, but it can't stop there. The downtown areas are limited to how many tents they will hold. How can the movement expand? Where will they expand?

Someone said that as long as the campers are there, people aren't going to frequent the downtown businesses. Or will they? Will the city accept losing revenue from this? Or will the people from suburbs come anyway, to join OWS? A lot of unknowns.

The police don't realize they are also part of the 99%? Police are not middle or upper class, they do not make $250,000 per year. Wake up America, there is no middle class. We are the Working Class, we do not make $250,000 per year but we are the majority and are sick of the rich running our country for themselves at our expense.

My husband is a police office and, by the way, horrified by Oakland and the injury to Mr. Olsen. When he finally retires (we are both 60), which may be at age 70, we will have to make choices between medicine for both of us and food, clothing, etc. No golden years for us.

Denver... agents provocateurs... All the OD people saying that it is not like them to do this... same thing that happened at the primaries, wasn't it? these are agent provocateurs, I don't doubt it
  • Occupy Denver had a rough day indeed.
    http://blogs.westword.com/latestword/2011/10/occupy_denver_riot_squad_rubber_bullets_arrests.php

Occupy Anchorage had a victory! They flash mobbed the De'naina Center where Karl Rove was speaking demanding his arrest. Watched it on the livestream. It was nuts.
They picketed right through this enormous, gaudy structure and their chants of "ARREST KARL ROVE" reverberated on the massive cold granite walls! That is what I'm talking about WOOOHOOO!! GO ALASKA!.."

" double down gestapo, double down " That was commented on that page. It was almost amusing. I guess rubber bullets are the standard now. Hey MV if you could hook up a link to that. I would like to see that in Alaska.

Janet my question then is, are the people currently there, exclusively protesters or are there also people who have nowhere to go (i.e. homeless, unemployed, etc) that are protesting as well, and can someone say how many are left?

The reason I was asking was I may very soon be homeless (I already lost my home, I may literally now not be able to have an actual roof over my head). My husband's unempl. (our ONLY source of income) stops in Dec. We have a dog and a cat. What is going on that people can't just go to OWS? Is this a movement? Why are they limiting the amount of people while on videos we hear that they can't wait to see more and more show up? I'm not understanding this or did I happen upon trolls who are misinforming? Or is everything just another sham I shouldn't even believe in either, just like my vote for "change" that was thrown away in the "stagnant" basket? This really sounds FISHY. I thought this was the PEOPLE'S movement. (I have removed last names from here, though they are visible on Facebook) And I am posting this in another sub-topic in case it gets stopped by other or same trolls (if this is what is happening)

We all need to educate ourselves, pull out the history books, search on the web. Looks like we'll need it ,study speeches from the past, and study protest tactics, than try to incorporate the present day into older tactics. Every member of OWS, should be well educated on History and Politics about protest. Oh did I forget to mention study protest tactics and why they worked and why they failed.

More courageous protester leading by inspiration. I hope we are stock piling this video, and we need some one with skills, to take all of this video from everywhere, and make a big ol video of it all. Some one with some skill. I mean all of it, pictures of bulldozers, torn up camps, all the riot gear, and brutality from the US. Something that can inspire time and time again.

    URGENT FROM #ORVA:
    " #OccupyRichmond
Sur Williams, Josh Kadrich, Greg Gunter, and Josh Hunter are still incarcerated in the City Jail, being held without bond for a minor, non-violent "crime". This is social injustice in its purest form. As of now, they're in a holding tier, and will be relocated in the next two days. Visitation eligibility and mail privileges will be determined by where they are located. We have their correction numbers and will be tracking their every move." from Jeanette Nelson

The pain is real, the brutality is real, the power is not. They do not have power, they have 'violence'. That is all they have. If we stay steady and do our job, their own violence will bring them down. They will end the reign of the 1% by their own bloody hand.

they are violent toward non-violent people b/c they're scared... mere words plastered on signs and coming out of mouths scare them more than weapons do. What were they a part of that makes them SO scared of "words"?

A man was seen openly carrying a gun at Sacramento Occupy. When the police were notified, they checked the man out and then informed the occupiers that he had a Constitutional right to carry the unconcealed weapon. Something wrong with this picture?

Does anyone find it curious that when it comes to things like infractions, ordinances, curfews, camping restrictions and other petty matters, the city attorney, City Council and a local judge say that the 1st Amendment is not an "unfettered right" and that they have the right to trump our Constitutional rights with such nonsense and set "reasonable" restrictions as to "time, place and manner" of a Constitutionally protected right of assembly. Yet when it comes to openly carrying guns in a public park or space, the police just stand there and say "The guy has a Constitutional right." Strange that no ordinances, infractions, codes or other "reasonable" standards aren't applied to the 2nd Amendment, and don't seem to trump the Constitution. Do you think? Something wrong with that picture?

This is not to say I am in agreement with the "reasonableness" of the standards the city has applied to our 1st Amendment rights. I see nothing in or about the "right to peacably assemble" that would permit the state to "reasonably" define the continuity of the assembly or the number of hours, anymore than the duration or number of days, that such an assembly might occupy a public commons. To interpret that as "reasonable" is to suggest that the state may intrude on that right for no other reason than to disrupt it or weaken its effectiveness with the misapplication of local ordinances. I do not find that the right to continuous assembly is something to be compromised away for lack of over-night camping or parade permits, or for the purpose of logistics and storage of equipment. When we sing, "gave proof through the night that our flag was still there," what part of that says, except for the ordinance that requires the flag be taken down at 11pm (midnight on weekends)?

SACRAMENTO, THE CITY THAT PUTS THE CONSTITUTION TO BED PROMPTLY AT 11pm.

    http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/11/05/us-protests-oakland-veteran-idUSTRE7A37A820111105

Brian Kelly, who co-owns a brew pub with Sabeghi, said his business partner told him he was arrested and beaten by a group of policemen as he was leaving the protest to go home.
"He told me he was in the hospital with a lacerated spleen and that the cops had jumped him," Kelly said, adding that Sabeghi had served as an Army Ranger in Iraq and Afghanistan.
"They put him in jail, and he told them he was injured, and they denied him medical treatment for about 18 hours," he said.
The Oakland Police Department did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
The veterans' group said in a statement that police struck Sabeghi with nightsticks on his hands, shoulders, ribs and back, and that in addition to a lacerated spleen he suffered from internal bleeding.
Sabeghi's name was listed by the Alameda County Sheriff's Office as among those arrested that night, and Highland General Hospital confirmed he was a patient in its intensive care unit.
