International GA?
  • DeavO December 2011 +1 -1
This is just an idea... feel free to organize it if you like... the following is just a speculative draft:

Whereas, a global crisis of social inequality haunts virtually every nation across this planet.

Whereas, the international Power elite actively seek to acquire and consolidate political and economic power in the hands of the few.

Whereas, global institutions of governance have subsequently become manipulated to this end.

We, the international 99% hereby propose, in the name of equality, predicated upon a foundation of universal liberty and in solidarity with all humankind, the meeting of an international GA to be held on the 23rd of January, 2013 in the City of Tunis, Tunisia.

The aim of this meeting shall be to establish international ties between occupations in all countries so as to unite in our common fight against international corporate hegemony.

The participants in this meeting are to be selected by the independent processes of their respective Occupations from points around the world.

An international GA is a good idea. Perhaps it could be organized through the European Union. I have made postings in the "2012 Candidates" and "Food Security" and in "Wanting to Be Indian" that touch on this subject. Let's have a discussion to arrange an international approach to our problem.

Interoccupy.org is hosting conference calls to plan for a May Day event and a July 4th event. Its also forming "Committees of Correspondence" or strategy working groups. in the late 1700s, CoC's organized the Colonial revolt against England. Still, Occupy is just beginning to gel. Its hard to try to actually see progress. But maybe if we keep at it, occupytogether.org and interoccupy.org and other parts of our "ecosystem of sites" can pull this off. I would like to say that amidst uncertainty and disagreement, people in Sacramento and elsewhere are pulling together.
