Real Flat Tax
  • gott5gott5 December 2011 +1 -1
We need a simple Flat Income Tax on all personal income and personal investment appreciation. No minimum, no exceptions, no maximum, no minimum age. This will reduct the IRS to a simple collection agency. Tax preparation would require a pencil and a slip of paper. Very simple. Payment could be an option of payroll deduction or quarterly payments.
All would be participating and no room for funny math. We could give the Fed more money than they have now as a budget, (hopefully not) or alot less . Congress tax bills would consist of voting on a simple percentage. Everyone would know exactly what they paid. You want to know if your representative is think of your interest, insist they promote strong change like this.

I agree we need to simplify it. And just spend the massive annual collection on sane objectives.
  • economicsystem December 2011 +1 -1
Ah, this is a very bad idea. Income tax is never in the benefit of anyone paying it. What you need to do is tax enormous corporations and government and distribute that money to everyone else through free services. You also need to limit the amount that people can charge for say food and other vital things in life. What do you think? :-P
  • gott5gott5 December 2011 +1 -1
    HOW DO YOU TAX GOVERNMENT?????????
  • whitefeather December 2011 +1 -1
How about capping profits on big corporations so they are not making as much profit as they are making and keep that money in the hands of the public. Where I'm standing if a corporation makes a two billion dollar profit, every quarter (a three month period) they are making too much profit and that is a form of gouging (extortion) of the people. There are too many corporations taking too much money away from the people (they are taking from small business also).

The whole system is out of balance in today's society. This is why these social services are so important at the moment. But to live in a system where you can walk out your door and step over people without homes, food etc., when you stop caring for your fellow man because of money and a rigged system you become just as bad as the banksters themselves. Gott5 you are making yourself sound like you are one of those people.

So if you are so against people getting a free handout then you better come up with a system that is going to re-teach people to stand on their own two feet and become a productive member of society. Society and this dog eat dog world was what beat them down in the first place.

I know I don't want to live in a society where we can throw people out with the trash because they don't have a means to support themselves. If you can't support a system that supports you and your fellow man, your system will not work; period. It will fall apart just like the present system is falling apart now. If you want that kind of dog eat dog society you have to set it up to catch people when they fall. (because they will fall).

As far as unemployment goes we have always had a limit on what we can collect (what we paid in). This is the first time in history we have extended unemployment benefits over an extended period of time. We are doing this because we are trying to keep people alive. Half of the people in this country today are either at the poverty level or have fallen completely through the cracks. Shall we just let half of our people starve to death so that we may give you a better chance at becoming more greedy than you already are?

I will not support this system. I will go to war over this. If I have to choose a system other than one of (or a form of) democracy for all the people. If I have to live in a system where it is okay to destroy another human being because you and people like you don't want to give a helping hand to these people; when they live in a society where their pets are treated better than they are; I will fight the injustices. I mean physically fight you and anyone else who thinks this is a good way.

If we are going to allow people to die lets at least kill off the ones who want to allow this to happen. The rest of us will be much better off without having to constantly look over our shoulders to protect ourselves against people who would rather see us die than give us a helping hand.

If it doesn't change and change quickly, this is where we will end up; fighting for our very existance. Is it going to become a battle over the survival of humanity?
It is time to come together and set in place a system where everyone will benefit.

WF Do you think it is neccessary to cap your income and at what level?Just how are these corps taking the money and what has allowed them to do it? If the system is out of balance, what is the hold up in fixing it ?...that is all I want. 1. yes we need to fix the system anf not leave some behind in the process, but the lack of rigidness is part of the problem. If you and I should be accountable, we can't accept excuses from others.
    2. Unemployment, this is the first time in history we have gotten this far off track and recovery is going to be tough. I have talked to Durandus and he rejects the fact that many Occupy want to scrap our Constitution. Thank you for supporting my concern. The Constititution works if we stick to it. We have Not. No one will ever be equal. Just the fact that we show concern for the country's problems puts us ahead of a huge number of apathetic citizen. How do you expect them to get a wake up call? We have a system where everyone CAN benefit. The "pursuit of happiness" has no guarantees.
  • economicsystem December 2011 +1 -1
gott5: You just tax them as you would a corporation or private citizen. For example, you set up a corporation and tax...say....the revenue agency. So now the revenue agency must pay, say, 95 percent of their earnings to this corporation. The money from that corporation is then used to provide free services for all people in the country. The police simply reinforce this legislation as well as all the other parts of government as they normally would.

To whitefeather: capping profits? No way. I say make profit illegal. Lots of societies have this in place. We'd just do it on the basis of a secular reason(s). No profit, no greed.
  • whitefeather December 2011 +1 -1
@economicsystem - Good luck with making profit illegal. Most like the idea of working hard to get ahead. They like the idea of 'the harder a person works the further ahead they get'. They like making their profit. Our system is set up now for this. Many will fight you on this.

@gott5 - My sugestion was bringing it back into balance so all could benefit from it. Many unemployed today are not used to having to except a "handout" with extended unemployment. They feel very degraded with the fact the only thing they can do is wait in long lines in competition of a possible job. There is a certain amount of pride a person feels when they do their share. At this point the only plan I have in mind is the direct democracy and I agree with you as far as not excepting excuses from others. We are all responsible for protecting our contstitution and keeping it operational and protective of the people. I am in favor of the constitution being brought back to it's original intent with the exception of all people being covered by the constitution (not just the white man). I think we are on the same page there. I also agree there are too many apathetic people and we need to help educate them on the importance of where we are at and what has happened to our constitution. Any ideas?

I disagree with you on 'all people are not equal'. They should be. If a person makes more money in their lifetime they do not have more equality than me, they are just worth more money. This is where we have the problem. In todays society the more money you have the more rights you have. To me this is wrong. I still have just as much equality as they do. They just have more in their savings. Their vacations, homes etc. might be better, bigger etc. but they should never have more power than someone with less money. This is where I think we have been led astray. Businesses should be there to benefit people not to control their lives.

If you and I were together and ,shortly 1 of 3 things would happen: we would prosper together, we would fail together, or one of us would gain the advantage. At this point the process stars over. this will happen no matter what our political system is. yes you could eliminate me entirely..that's your choice. (and mine)
Business is ther to benefit people lives...........it's there to benefit the people who created it first and those who participate in it secondly. I used emumployment for the first time a couple of years ago and I still knew my obligation was to get off of it as soon as possible, no matter how many mutiple jobs it took. Finding a job NO PROBLEM.....great job..combined there are OK,,,,,,,,,,but I am hireable because I know what is expected.
