MoveOn.org and The American Movement

Division is not the answer...unless our agendas are totally different. MoveOn agenda is the same as our's,fighting for the 99%,how can we say it's alright for there members to be a part of the Occupy Movement but it's not alright for MoveOn as a organization to be a part of it,do you really think there members would take part in the Occupy Movement knowing this .The Political party's in this country are all control by the 1% money but the Republican\ Tea party wants to cut social programs for the Middle class and the working poor whereas they want to give tax brakes to the 1% and put every thing on the back's of the middle class and working poor . If you believe as I do that this GOP pledge to Grover Norquist supersedes the oath of office taken by these congressional representatives to uphold and defend the US Constitution and why is MoveOn the only organization being single out because there are other organization's that's have the same agenda as MoveOn and they are not being single out,why ?

Co-opting is the perpetual plight and is a serious problem to be avoided. Tea Party started out with good intentions and was hijacked by corporate sponsors and think tanks. There is just simply too much animosity towards allies. I wouldn't sweat it though. Those with the closed minds shut themselves out.

At the President's address recently, Occupy attempted a mic-check and was interrupted by a woman and her gang to the left of the President, shouting down the Occupy mic-check attempt chanting..."all fired up...all fired up...all fired up"...literally drowning out Occupy. Who do you suppose these opposing chanters were?...Moveon. An open alliance with Moveon would be a grave mistake.

Durandus, I'm not sure what you are talking about. The version I saw showed President Obama very graciously listening to OWS. You are correct about the dangers of co-optation. MoveOn is not your enemy.

I saw the whole video. Yes they did get into a shouting match but what proof that was moveon.org members? Could of just been staunch supporters for Obama.

I don't suppose they are an enemy at all...co-option may even be well intended, but this was an organized, prepared interruption of Occupy...supporters, yes...but premeditated, and anticipated...not a loose band in the crowd...you may be right, MVD...the other best alternative was that the interruption came from the President's supporters, all right...as in: let's have an alternative shouting group in the event of Occupy embarrasing the POTUS...both scenarios hold a cautionary tale...I can't believe they were just supporters with no anticipation of this shouting-down function they served...the caution is, of course, Self-Reliance of Occupy...the danger of cooption by Moveon AND the President's willingness to snarl-up Occupy if it in any way becomes an inconvenience to himself or his party. Again...be careful in what or whom you place your faith.

I hope OWS movement is strong enough to handle other's chants

yeah, among a thousand other concerted interjections of animosity
