i am just throwing things out there ideas that i am interested in hearing what others have to say about
attempting to learn, you seem to want to be in ever conversation and the LEADER of every discussion and everone on here

tell me durandus what exactly upset you or do you even remember

one thing I will share with you and you can take this to the bank FH I will no longer respond to any more of your childish behaviorism and am asking you to stop with the ridiculing bull shit that makes no sence that you throw out here there and everywhere without even considering what you’re saying before writing it down

for me I do not appreciate any kind of FH regardless of what side of the fence they are on or who they think they are

you behavior is a poor example of what people are wanting to do here on this web site

the reason I put this post on here was because I was amazed by just how many companies there were in the US where they are located wondering how they affect the environment should there be laws against plastic bags being used in grocery stores, like some counties- cities have done these are questions others will decide on:

I myself have my ideas about it but this post in no way reflects what I think but I will share with you my thoughts on this have not changed since I read Silent Spring in the summer of 1969

so go figure was Rachel Carson right or not what has changed since then does it make any difference, that is for you to decide for yourself

the post is here for people to express their ideas not to be ridiculed by others for expressing them

I personal have found many things written here very interesting well written [written much better than I could have]

these are complex times and there are so many different issues that need to be address the site for me is a source of information

I read what I disagree agree along with the remarks i appreciate even applaud with the interest of better understanding how people are thinking out there how they feel about things what ideas have they come up with to generate some kind of solutions to the problems
    we face as a civilization

the ranting and raving that goes on I usually ignore

However as noted I have committed here in respect to this disrupted behavior but I will NOT do so again

Here is the problem I have with the whole draconian force-me-not-to-use-plastic-bags measures, such as the one our town adopted. Many (maybe most) people, like myself are STILL going to buy plastic bags for our garbage containers because paper soaks through and creates a huge mess and unbagged garbage not only means washing out the waste basket every time, but it creates a stench in the larger garbage can and means washing it out, too. Therefore, banning plastic grocery bags is, from a recycling point of view, stupid. Almost everyone I know uses the plastic grocery bags for waste-basket liners. These top-down rules from the enlightened mean that they will now all have to BUY plastic liners, and those plastic liners are typically a little larger and a little thicker, so this will certainly result in MORE plastic going to the dump and at a greater cost to the consumer. It is a lose-lose proposition. Well-intended but poorly thought out in terms of its real-life ramifications.

I'm for thinking about recycling solutions before forcing them on others ... such as the dim idea of returning used printer-ink cartridges to the manufacturer for a refill. Has anyone every thought about how many resources, human and natural, are WASTED by that simple act? How many extra truck loads and plane loads of mail are moved from one end of the country to the other just to get those cartridges back and at what fuel and wear-and-tear consumption? How much time spent processing that mail and electricity and other resources used in the processing? You may be thinking, "But it is such a tiny little cartridge." Yes, but their are MILLIONS of them being used up every week.

I use my tote bags for wet, cold items. And bag everything else with paper. I also reuse my paper bags as liners since my trash is never wet. Any food is vermicomposted. I don't recycle because I was told by a waste management employee (@ a bar though) our city really isn't even recycling what they collect, they just dump it to the same site.

What would be environmentally more sound is to have every service relocalized.

A plan to ban the sale of plastic water bottles at the Grand Canyon was scrapped after talks with Coca-Cola, which is a donor to the national parks system and a bottled water distributor.

I thought this plan was done in fact i was going to post the article that the park had made the decission to ban plastic bottles at the park 3 days ago how quickly things change.

    HELLO
  • bnhunter December 2011 +1 -1
HELLO....new person to the site here...While I understand the magnitude of the issues raised by the occupy movement, I can honestly say in earnest that I don't think most of the population does. It is my belief that if they knew what the movement was pressing for in simple concise terms..the majority of this countries Americans would be on board....it seems to me that the occupy movement is all over the map and that being in a scattered position of protest hinders the highly significant message that could be delivered. I am not being critical--just real. Maybe the occupy leadership could hold an online election to discern 3 or 4 specific platforms from which the movement could mobilize and bombard the media with a position on these 3 or 4 selected issues of protest.

As a side note--the AARP organization has really taken a wise stance with their medicare benefits on the line by recently running ads putting politicians on notice of their strength in voting numbers--and by directing their solidarity right at the politicians running for office. Their ads say--we are 5 million strong voting Americans and we will be watching you (politicians) over the next few months and you will hear from us on election day...hence if you want to keep your job--you best be considering our desires because we are the people you represent--and we are watching.

Occupy should take this same bold in your face voting agenda. We need short concise issues that the movement feels strongly about in solidarity to target as our platform issues for resolution.

    Example platforms:
    1) Occupy demands an immediate criminal investigation and congressional inquiry into the reasons justifying the recent us tax dollar bail outs of financial institutions
    2) Occupy demands new legislation that prohibits the --currently legal--practice of insider trading by elected officials in Congress
    3) Occupy demands immediate government pressure, transparency and accountability of all banks and financial institutions that received us tax payer bail out money to disclose how the tax payer money was used to renegotiate upside down loans for Americans facing foreclosure--with renegotiation intent on Americans keeping their homes
    4) 3% of the foreign aid budget redirected immediately to fund US infrastructure projects that create jobs for Americans.

    These are just examples!

Next, it would be wise to bombard the media with whatever selected platforms derive so that public opinion and politicians can take sides and thus be held accountable, inspired or empowered. Lastly, the movement can be--and is--identified by the 99% population characteristic--however, we are also a remarkable voting power by our sheer numbers that if reasonably flashed in the face of politicians have the capacity to bring criminals to justice via congressional inquiry into the wall street deception and good ole boy antics. The occupy movement has this capacity! It is ripe for demanding change if simple organizational functions and leadership can focus and target. Just a thought and commentary?

MYSTICBARD.... are you from California, by chance? I am from the East Coast, and it just seems that everything we get news out here about California is about the 'plastic bag' fiasco. On the news, when they show California, it's the 'plastic bags ban'...
Personally?... I think there are bigger things to worry about first. I know, I know, baby-steps and all that, but 'plastic bags' ? There are 100 BIG things that need more attention than that effort people are putting into it right now...

This is just something I am following; MiddleGround

It is interesting to see how big corporations operate when either the public or even the government at a local-state or federal level begin to realize that what they are manufacturing and/or are distributing is either technology wise out dated, or it has been decided that the product being manufactured and/or distributed is to harmful to the environment or the public to be used any longer.

It is just away to watch and learn; to evaluate how – what they (big business) are willing to do even when they know it is wrong to do so just so they can continue making that holly $,

especial when what they are doing is so criminal against nature and the people who it effects that the documentation is irrefutable.
